As my friend said of the original of this song, “Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen teamed up to make a song. They had an opportunity to make the most unapologetically happy pop song ever made and instead they made this rather boring summer party song.” I have to agree with him. Those two have a history of writing ridiculously happy pop music. This song was happy but rather (more) formulaic (than some of their pop). Sharkf3ng‘s remix of this track takes on the understated nature of the original instrumental track and emphasizes the whimsy of the Owl City synths while adding some complementing synths of his own. The happiness is amplified and the song seems larger and more solid now. Give it a listen!
